Personal statement

Neil is a graduate of the University of Glasgow and University of Aberdeen studying Sport Science and Sport Nutrition respectively. He is an established UKSCA accredited S&C coach and has worked with Olympic, World and Commonwealth medallists. As part of the Senior Management of RGU: SPORT, he worked closely with President of Sport & Physical Activity and University clubs to establish programme of support, influencing club structure and increasing performance opportunities for members and thus improve student experience. Neil coached the RGU Rugby team for 8 years, leading them to multiple BUCS league and regional cup wins, along with taking them to a BUCS cup final. He has been involved with the governing body for student sport (SSS) in its previous guises as Scottish Universities Sport, which came from the merger of SUPEA and SUSF in June 2005. Neil is a past member of Competitions Committee that oversaw Scottish University Sport activity. He has siginificant experience of academic teaching, developing and delivering modules taught in undergraduate degree programmes. Neil is a retired rugby player and is now a keen golfer and road cyclist.
